Chicago Parks

Chicago’s beautiful parks grant serenity under the brilliant skyline. Chicago offers more than 7300 acres of parkland, 552 parks, 33 beaches, two conservatories, 16 historic lagoons, 10 bird and wildlife gardens, sports and entertainment programs and thousands of outdoor events.
Millennium Park. Located in downtown Chicago on Michigan Ave., Millennium Park is an extraordinary showplace for art, music, architecture, and landscape design. The 24.5-acre park highlights Chicago as one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world. Surrounding the dazzling Jay Pritzker Pavilion stand astonishing works of art, including Cloud Gate, a mammoth stainless steel sculpture, the Crown Fountain and the precedent-setting Lurie Garden. In addition to inspiring works of art and architecture, Chicago's world-class attraction offers ice skating and alfresco dining. Visit www.millenniumpark.org.
Lincoln Park. Chicago's largest public park, Lincoln Park offers recreational facilities including 15 baseball areas, 6 basketball courts, 2 softball courts, 35 tennis courts, 163 volley ball courts, field houses, a golf course, and a popular fitness center. It includes a number of harbours with boating facilities, as well as public beaches. There are landscaped gardens, a zoo, the Lincoln Park Conservatory, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and a theater on the lake with regular outdoor performances during the summer.  [Top]
Grant Park. Situated between Michigan Avenue and Lake Michigan, Grant Park is Chicago's principal downtown park. The Park's geometric design consists of a series of bridges crossing the railway tracks that are still on the park's compound. After the bridges, the park is divided in sections with lawns, trees and monuments, including a statue of Abraham Lincoln. The front near Lake Michigan is a favorite track for strollers, joggers and bikers.  Visit www.chicagoparkdistrict.com. [Top]
Buckingham Fountain. Turning on the popular Chicago landmark and tourist attraction coincides with the beginning of summer. Visitors can enjoy a dazzling music, light and water show, which runs from dusk to 11 pm every hour on the hour and lasts for 20 minutes. The grand fountain operates spring through early fall.  [Top]
