Cadillac Palace. Opened in 1926, the 2,500-seat Cadillac Palace Theatre has been beautifully restored to its vaudeville days, with modern technological improvements. Inspired by the palaces of Versailles and Fontainebleau, the majestic theater has seen the likes of Bob Hope and Mae West. Remodeled in 1999 to its current splendor, Cadillac Palace was recently home to the nine-month run of "The Lion King"-an ambitious show that fits with the grandeur of the theater. Chicago TheatreChicago Theatre. The grandeur of the Chicago Theatre leaves you breathless. The elegant lobby, majestic staircase and beautiful auditorium, with murals above the stage and on the ceiling, are components of “the Wonder Theatre of the World.” Now playing is Shear Madness, an enormously popular and hilarious whodunit set in a unisex hair salon that is the scene of a wacky murder. The award-wining comedy is filled with spontaneous humor and is different each performance (until 9/1/2007). Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theater. The beautifully restored Oriental Theatre is part of the revitalized downtown theater district. The Ford Center houses mostly Broadway tours. Currently, this venue is hosting an open run of the smash hit musical "Wicked." "Wicked” tells the back story of the witches of Oz, with a mixed cast of Broadway and well-known Chicago performers.
